The Fountain of Change...Everything is Connected

The fountain above is great example of the connections between things. As the water shoots up from the center point and stream out like spider legs, the water is effecting what it touches. Which clearly shows that every action has an effect on other things related to it.

I was driving around town on a quest to begin a change in my life and realized how much resistance there is to change. Not only my own resistance but the resistance from other people (traffic) and resistance from life itself (the weather). I may want to grab the brass ring on the carousel but other people want it too and maybe the ring doesn't even want me to get it.

I had gone to many a store looking for a treadmill and they were either sold out or they had just sold the last one a few hours ago. It would seem that when you get a good idea someone else is having that same idea and if they are faster they will get it before you. But after an hour of calling around i located to at a store in another town. So I left to get it.

That's where it occurred to me that change is hard. Changing your life effects other people and other things and as well all know people and things don't like to change if they don't have to in fact they will fight to avoid change. You can not act without an opposite reaction taking place. Its the law of physics as well as principles of

zen...

Because the cosmos is governed by inertia; all things want to continue the way they are, and will return to balance if left alone. If anyone interferes with the static existence of things they resist, as a stone resists crushing and a wasp stings if swatted—they are fighting change. Resistance only grows stronger as the pressure to change increases; therefore, humans and human societies are highly responsive to challenge. And so when anyone tries to act upon humans individually or collectively, the ultimate result is the opposite of what was aimed for.

in physics it is stated as

III. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Well it hadn't occurred to me what reaction my change of life will put on others. For example if you have a married couple who have spent many years together and suddenly one of them starts going to school. It creates a change that effects the other person. The other person will feel they have lost something (companionship) in their life even though they have gained something (free time).

So as I try to change my life other people and things will be effected and will have to adjust and change with it. So if i stop eating fast food this will effect the restaurants I go to because they will not have my money, not that it will really be missed, but it will also effect the grocery store because I will be spending my money there to buy food. One person may not make much of an impact but if many people do this at the same time it really effects the world on a grand scale.

But after a few hours of not giving up I acquired the treadmill brought it home put it together and went for a three hour power walk with music flowing thru my headphones. It took me back to where i started. I loved running but after a back accident I had to stop. Now I'm healthier, wiser, and hopefully will be getting stronger as I continue my adventures and new path in life. A new year starts on March 20, it is the beginning of the year marked by the vernal Equinox as the sun enters Aries the first sign of the zodiac.

Happy New Year everyone...
